PFA October News Flash!

Cookie Dough Fundraiser
Thank you very much for supporting our recent Cookie Dough fundraiser. Together the students have sold over $12,000 dollars in cookie dough, raising about $4,800 for our school! At our October PFA meeting, we will be discussing the 2010-2011 PFA annual budget and how these funds will be allocated throughout the year. Funds raised by the PFA are generally used to pay for student awards, fine arts night, academic field trips, teacher and staff appreciation week, special requests, Red Ribbon week, and much much more. The cookie orders have been sent in and a delivery date notice will be coming home soon.

Mar Val Receipts and Box Tops
Please save your Mar Val receipts and Box Tops! Bonnie Carlos has graciously offered to help Margie collect and count Mar Val receipts and Box Tops this year. If you’re not familiar with the programs, here’s a quick overview. If we collect and turn in our receipts to Mar Val, they will return to us 1% of our total net spent. If we collect and turn in clipped box tops, they will return to us 10 cents for each box top. Does not sound like much, but it adds up fast. Last year, FMS was able to give two $700 dollar college scholarships to two Sierra High School students with the Mar Val funds. This year we hope to surpass that, and buy a laminator machine with the Box Top funds added.

8th Grade Pizza Cards and Fundraiser
Pizza cards are now available in the office. For $14.00 you can purchase a pizza card good for one large one topping pizza at the Pizza Factory ($5.00 of which goes back to the student). These cards help fund 8th grade promotion, student activities, and the Great America field trip. When purchasing your pizza cards, you may designate which student you would like to support by simply giving the students name to the office staff.
Instead of the traditional Entertainment Books, 8th graders will be selling Entertainment Coupon Books that have been customized to better serve our demographics. They will be available for purchase soon. These books will be $10.00 dollars, $5.00 of which will be given to the selling student.

Pumpkin Booth at Intermountain Nursery this weekend
Trader Joe’s and Intermountain Nursery have teamed up to support our school! The Clovis Trader Joe’s on Willow has generously donated a flat of pumpkins for the PFA to sell at the Peace and Harvest Fest this weekend at Intermountain Nursery. Nursery owners Bonnie, Ray and Kristin have graciously donated a booth space for the PFA to sell these pumpkins with the profits directly benefiting our students. For a small fee, children will be able to pick a pumpkin and decorate it. 8th grade students will also be there at the booth selling their pizza cards and entertainment coupon books. Volunteers are still needed to help run the booth. If you can lend a hand for an hour or two please contact Nancy Chauncey at 903-4600 or amoonchant@aol.com.
